The Legacy of Brannen Bank
Brannen Bank has been providing personalized banking service since 1926 when our founder, George H. Brannen, Sr., established the first Brannen Bank in historic Homosassa as the Bank of Homosassa. Relocated to Inverness in 1929 and renamed The Bank of Inverness, Brannen Bank was the only bank in Citrus County to survive the economic crash of 1929 and the Great Depression.
We have grown a lot since 1926, opening the Dunnellon location in 1946, the Crystal River location in 1954, the Homosassa Springs location in 1970, and the Brooksville location in 1987, and are now proudly Citrus County’s oldest commercial bank. We have continued to expand and currently service 12 convenient locations in Citrus, Marion, and Hernando Counties.
Passed on through three generations of the Brannen family, Brannen Bank forges on with our reputation of providing the very best in friendly, efficient, and innovative banking services for more than 90 years. Our founder, George H. Brannen Sr., his sons, Joseph S. Brannen, Chairman and George H. Brannen II, Chairman Emeritus, and his grandson, G. Matt Brannen, President, take great pride in maintaining our highest honor as your full-service “Hometown Bank.”
